OS Compliance auditing, reporting and remediation

We need to audit our iPads and would like to report on all devices or a subset of devices to determine their OS level, flag those devices that are out of compliance then remediate those not meeting our requirements. The closest we've been able to do is to drill into the google group and export a csv containing the devices associated with a specific group, then filter out the irrelevant columns. We'd like to be able to choose any level of granularity (school, staff, student, grade) and quickly see the versions. Right now, we cannot even export the top level.
Ideally, we'd like to:
- Report on devices and filter on all devices or any subset defined in our groups
- Flag those that are not at a specified or latest version
- Remediate those devices
